From the files of ‘nobody cares until I screw up, then everyone cares’, the forum is now part of our scheduled backups. We keep 30 days of backups, and then monthly for 12 months. Backups are on a physically distinct server in the same location as the forum.
Will have offsite backups running in the next month or two as well.
We currently have a physical backup/clone of the forum server but I’m likely to re-purpose that elsewhere shortly (this forum server was supposed to be my backup hardware ). I’ll think about what we want to do if the hardware dies. For now, I think I’d likely just spin up a virtual server at a hosting facility somewhere until I replaced the hardware. It’d be a bumpy ride, but given the hardware itself is pretty robust I think that’s a risk we’ll take for now. I’ll talk to my dev guy about this a bit more soon.
