Claude’s gotten too good.

Isn’t this just political retribution from the Trump administration?

If the primary intent were retribution, I would have expected it to happen sooner and/or have a broader scope.

Of course, it is possible that the regime has learned to be better about finding cover for their antics that might be better able to survive judicial review.

It’s not the first retribution to come from the administration, which has already declared Anthropic a supply chain threat so that anyone selling to the DoD can’t use them, and the SEC is delaying their IPO for unclear reasons.

I’m still a bit skeptical on the notion that AI is great at extralolating new information from the information it has, but it is remarkable how useful it is for querying even niche information that likely already exists on the internet.

For example we’re moving soon to a town of about 6,500 people. We’ll be on a dead end but in theory they could develop a cut through to this other dead end. I wanted to know the status etc of all things related to that, since it’s a (hopefully very low) probability risk. Remarkable how easily I can get all the detail when it would have otherwise taken me a couple hours googling and hunting around the internet.

Just came across this screen grab on Reddit:

During their investigation, authorities allegedly fed “poor quality” surveillance images of the suspect into an AI-powered facial recognition program, which scanned facial features and found photos of the suspect and Dillon were allegedly “a 93% match,”

That doesn’t seem to be a very good match. I think that means 1 in 14 people will be deemed a match.

What’s a 60% match? A gorilla?

The pushback is picking up speed now as the cost cannot be justified on the nebulous lets throw it at everything to improve efficiency grounds.

Meanwhile, I’ve heard of judges rejecting DNA evidence that limits the odds of a mismatch to 1 in a quadrillion.
