Another VBA BANGER - Manually Update External Links One Link at a Time

I think it’s because manually updating like 300 external links would be a nightmare

But my company does things differently for sure than healthcare

I meant to ask-- what’s the issue? Is the issue that the 300 external links include the same files over and over again?

If that’s the case, I think you should just write VBA to open all the files first.

The issue was that the powerpoint had external files linked to it. These files sat on a network drive. So for all 300 links, one by one, powerpoint would update each link by downloading the file, opening it, and closing it.

I was trying to find a workaround.

Really the best work around is just to have the files open and refresh using powerpoints refresh button. Not try to get slick with it.

But Maybe there’s a better way

Yeah-- then going back to my recommendation above.

Write a VBA script that:
Get all the links (preferably automatically).
Opens all the files at once.
Clicks the refresh all button. (there’s probably a vba call somewhere).
Closes all the files that weren’t already open.

this is the way.

I was hoping to find a hack and make excel faster by updating each link individually. But alas, maybe another day

Gather all the info you need into one Excel Sheet to rule them all!
It will be one precious spreadsheet.

We can’t do it.

Once built, entire teams would be laid off. The company would pocket the difference. Our economy would crumble as the wealthy elite realize they can replace all of us with one simple spreadsheet. So long as it doesn’t exceed 1.4M rows

Don’t you mean 1.04M?
