Annoyed Thoughts

The 5 minutes OF YOURS she spent trying to bargain for $5 would have pissed me off enough. Some people just NEED to win.

Still some of this is on you, cuz you chose to make an account on Facebook.

This is the way. I once advertised an old clothes dryer for $40, mostly so someone wouldn’t come get it for nothing and resell it. A single mom showed up and I refused the $40, really made her day.

And a while back I was selling some speakers and a teenager showed up, said he was getting into the hobby. I asked him if he had a subwoofer, he said he was saving up and that was his next buy. Well, how about I give you this 8" sub to get you started?

Well, Tiffany is out today, but what the hell, I’m talking to someone else. I’m going to call these people every single week and see how they like me.

That sounds like someone Breakmaker would run into at this starbucks he frequents.

I was confused a moment, thinking of the poster.

So we just put in solar and are currently completely off grid until they swing the connection to our new 200 amp service box next week. This morning I turn on the tea kettle and coffee maker and all the power in the house dies. I’m like WTF this isn’t going to work. Fortunately, my solar guy was able to remotely fix it in a few minutes, it was just a load setting that was wrong on the inverter and better to find out now than when there is a real problem.

The other annoying but I guess good thing because it could have done real damage had we let it go over time is they found a pipe with a tiny drip leak in the crawl space when laying new wiring, likely from a solder joint from the bathroom remodel last year. My contract from that is coming Saturday to fix.

You were annoyed for a few minutes?

Off the grid, you say? I might want to know more about that, as i can install 25+ panels on a southeast-facing roof.
How do i sell power to my neighbors?

Fortunately the annoyance was short. But when it happened were in the dark and didn’t know for how long.

We currently generate enough power to run our house and power up the batteries for an estimated 36 hours of running our home on battery power. But don’t know if the system is robust to be permanently disconnected from PG&E, especially in winter months. We’ll run it for a year and see where we are. We’ll be hooked up back to the grid next week.

I don’t think you can sell directly to your neighbors in CA. You can sell back to the grid, PG&E in our area but the rates are crap. You sell at like $0.04 kw/hr and can be buying back from the grid at like $0.50 kw/hr during peak times when you are likely to be pulling from the grid.

You’ve gone solar with the expectation you can be offgrid completely? Im sorry, but that’s pretty freakin cool.

Not the expectation, but kind of a hope. We’ll see how it works out. Though if we do disconnect from the grid, that would mean investing in a backup generator for emergency.

You’d just need to keep adding batteries, save up for several cloudy days in a row.

Oh, charging (heh) my neighbors would be under the table, nice thick cord.

I’m aware of the scams where a business appears to be local, but it’s really a call center trying to grab referrals and sell them. I need a plumber for a couple of small jobs, I could do it myself but I already have a long punch list, and I know a great local plumber.

So I google them, and it lists a phone number. But when I click that number, it actually calls ANOTHER number, which is one of the stupid call centers. Pretty sneaky. I hung up on them as soon as I realized it wasn’t my guy (the owner answers the phone), but the scammers then texted me! So annoying.

I posted somewhere that my spouse got caught up in one of these recently. Guy actually had my fridge half apart and asking me to sign paperwork before I figured it out.

I need a new suit for upcoming stuff. and I also need a dress for a wedding this weekend. I need to go shopping tonight because stores close at 9 and I’m so very unmotivated to get moving.

You should have started early enough to order it, but perhaps you can find it in the store tonight

The neighbors on one side just sit out on the porch every day from end of work to after dark, smoking, with their yappy little dog.

Every time I go out, the dog goes crazy. It does to any person in its sight. In doing so, it sets off all the other dogs in the vicinity and wakes up babies and just, ugh. I mean, those families did choose to have dogs and babies, but I still hate lighting up the whole neighborhood’s menagerie.

It’s gotten to where I will try to spot them before going outside, and if I can wait until it’s 10 PM or so before putting out our trash I’ll avoid it.

Good news: they’re moving, hopefully.

Note to (I assume) telephone polling organizations:

If you are calling me for a poll, you need to let the phone ring on my side more than twice if you want me to pick up. I’m not picking up a call until caller ID has had a chance to register, and I recognize the name as someone I’m willing to talk to.

And since you’re calling repeatedly because I didn’t pick up, it’s really :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:ing annoying.

Dryer making a horrible sound when turned on.
Gonna look into a repair, but not sure how to find someone that won’t rip me off.

Sears Home Service any good? Asking for $129 for diagnostic service alone.

By clicking “Book Repair” below, I consent to receive, at the phone number I provided above, autodialed, prerecorded, and/or artificial voice offers and promotions via texts and/or calls from Transformco and its business units (including but not limited to Sears, Sears Home Services, Shop Your Way, and Kenmore). I understand that consent is not a condition of purchase and that message and data rates may apply. Recurring text messages may occur. I can also call 800-469-4663 to schedule a repair appointment. I also consent to Transformco’s Mobile Terms and Privacy Policy.

I might just call instead.

Is there a local appliance shop you can call? Many either offer repairs or can point you to a local person who does decent work.

Called Sears already. Not sure who owns this part of Sears. I assume it is this “Transformco” which seems especially apt.
I don’t really trust the internet to find me a local repair shop. I don’t recall which thread here a convo was in about it.
