I have been getting slammed with spam emails for the 4th. I know I’ve unsubscribed from so many of these companies, it’s infuriating.
I think so. It did take awhile for the charging port to dry. I got Avery nasty error when I tried charging it before that.
So…over the weekend I learned that the SQL server someone pointed me to for production work is actually a test server.
And over the weekend, IT made some changes regarding how to access that SQL server, without much use.
The good news is: after some finagling, I was able to regain access to the server.
The bad news is: this is the week that quarter-end reports are due…and all my automation is broken.
At least IT is getting a lot of data on what sort of migration issues might be encountered if they were to do whatever it is they’re trying to do in production.
Twice went to record the Earth, Wind and Fire documentary and twice it was a different program (The Mummy, Game of Thrones) - odd
Trying one more time. Everything looked right on the labeling, but wrong show
Guessing you will get Twister or Wizard of Oz this time.
VCR or BetaMax?
Power flickered here for a second, and of course that took Comcast down for 10+ minutes. This is at least the 5th world cup match I have missed part of due to Comcast outages.
One good reason to get YouTubeTV or Hulu+: their “recordings” (“library” on YouTubeTV) are on their servers. If power goes out at my home, then I know the games are still available. Unless watching live is mandatory. Then you’re SOL.
My buddy who’s leaning into alcohol I think and who’s wife left earlier in the year, I dunno. I pinged him to see if he’s around tonite so I can drop some stuff off. No answer to the text. Which used to mean he was just in the shop, and I’d drive out anyway. But now it could mean he’s half passed out in the shop from drinking. I dunno, but not interested in just swinging by on the off chance I have to experience that.
Somebody, not me, needs to tell him to get his s*** together.
Had a friend like that. Fortunately they decided to get sober a couple years ago. I couldn’t have sustained that friendship much longer.
Why not you?
Obviously, telling him to get his shit together isn’t the right approach, but sounds like the dude sees one reliable companion in his life, and that’s booze.
Maybe that’s what he wants right now, but there is also a chance it’s not.
On today’s agenda is dissecting the washing machine.
bedroom has a window unit AC. it has been rattling a lot lately. and we can’t risk stopping it bc it’s so gd hot
While swapping out the actual part was straightforward, i spent nearly 2 hours driving to and from the appliance parts store, but at least it was in stock. When I got back, one of the trades for the construction project next door had parked his work van blocking half of my driveway. It was a bear getting to the needed tools in the garage, and I caused an avalanche when trying to reach the bin I needed, rather than moving my spouse’s minivan to reach it easier. It’s hot in the garage (where the washer and dryer are), and I’m hungry (only thing I ate for lunch was a Kind bar while driving to the parts store).
Online company emailed me a few days later, claimed they processes the refund, but I really needed to un-dispute the charge with my CC…for reasons. I assume, enough of these, and they get kicked out from the CC company. Of course, I have nothing that shows they are being honest.
I suggested perhaps they have not been honest in this transaction and I see no reason to trust them now, and they can take it up with the CC as they forced me to do.
Then today, I got another email, addressed to someone else, with almost the same request, to un-dispute the charge for them.
All their reviews online are terrible. Guess I should have checked that first.
Seems appropriate
Noah at daycare has a cold or something. So of course my granddaughter now has a cold.
yesterday, yep, my spouse has it.
And now to the annoyed thoughts, this morning I wake up with a headache and post nasal drip.
See this is why nobody likes Noah.
earlier this year I created my dream crm. I’ve run crm’s for 15 years or more and had a laundry list of things I wanted. Got it all in the new system.
My friend, in the same industry, is using my old crm from like i dunno, 10 years ago? I gave him a copy back in 2018 and it was old then. Our developer has already told him that it’s a huge security risk, can’t be moved, can’t be updated, it’s just too damn old and he needs to do something now. He’s been looking for 2 years, can’t find anything he wants or likes.
So I opened up my new system to him. Imported his 8000 clients, made the tweaks he wanted, and let him try it free for 2 months.
Last week things came to a head, I’ve got things I need to do with servers so I told him his free trial is over, make a decision.
And his decision? doesn’t want to spend the money. He’s going to go back to his old broken vulnerable system and continue looking while not actually buying anything.
OK, gl with that. I guess at least I"m done doing tech support.
But really. Geez.
