Annoyed Thoughts

Ever since the last time I took kids fishing there’s been a lingering smell in my truck. like a rotten apple or something. I did a deep dive and a just don’t see anything. weeks later, the smell still lingers a bit.

I do know that these kids have some very innovative places to hide garbage in the truck. I’m always finding stuff tucked away. I just haven’t found this one yet.

My white oxford I threw on rushing out the door actually has blue streaks everywhere from some kid’s marker or candy being left in a pocket. And we’re hosting external partners later.

We had the black crayon version. I keep a clean shirt in the car for emergency use.

I used to…until it was needed and I forgot to replace it. I do have a sports coat I always keep in the office for just such an occasion as well though, and should suffice.

I say just go with whatever is comfortable.

We’re taking them to a hockey game, so in some circles at least, appropriate.

New box of tissues - why do they shove so many of them in there that the first few get torn up trying to get the box started? This serves no purpose.

I get my tissues from Costco. I have heard that Costco, when possible, has a policy of not having the same size for a product when that product is available in competing stores (so that it’s harder to compare prices). Perhaps that is why their Kleenex boxes end up having impractical dimensions.

Years ago I could reach over and grab a tissue out with one hand in one graceful movement. Now I have to hold the box with one hand and gently ease the tissue out with the other.

Saves on packaging and shipping. Makes you buy more. Win win, just not for you.

Memo to corporate IT:

While I appreciate your wanting to replace/update my company laptop, could you please discuss timelines with me before initiating the process?

I shouldn’t be finding out about this by a text notification from UPS, shortly followed by an email telling me that my new laptop has arrived.

This wouldn’t be a problem if I were at home, but I’m out of town today, unhappy that there’s apparently a laptop sitting unattended on my front porch.

Need to get the tissue folks in a room with the potato chip folks and come to some manner of compromise.

Just noticed a hairline crack in the shell of my laptop. No clue what happened.

We use secure couriers for laptops so if I am not home, they don’t deliver it as I have to sign. You then have to ask them to re-deliver which can take a few days.

Bit of a security issue if the laptop is just left there.

Costo seems to carry the cube shaped boxes of tissues (note, they have 1 fewer tissue than the kleenex brand of the same) as well as the half sized rectangular boxes (shorter). Both of these seem like superior options. The larger rectangular cartons often have the problem where at some point around 50% remaining, a tissue wont feed through after the prior one, and once you have to dig into the box to restart the flow, you mess up the plastic film that this becomes a much more regular occurrence.

And the 1 fewer tissue in the cube is one fewer wasted, as noted earlier.

Several annoyed thoughts today.

I have a stomach bug that has me running to the bathroom every 30 minutes for the last 2 days. I don’t know how there’s anything left inside me.

A new president of the business is creating chaos and upheaval (because that’s what they always do). My business unit is being dissolved and all the sub-businesses in it are being moved elsewhere. The silver lining is that my former manager’s manager, who I loved working for and who was moved to another area 4 months ago, will be my leader again, but there are some drawbacks as well. And disruption is always challenging.

I am so sleep deprived. Tomorrow won’t be the day I catch up on sleep, my brother is getting married so we will be leaving for that around lunchtime and not returning until dinner. But maybe Saturday. If I ever start feeling better…these bathroom runs are really frustrating.

Hard agree on this one. They almost always can’t seem to help but do this
