You obviously can’t without context but if I had that as a homework assignment I would start with the assumption of singular with maybe a disclaimer that if it was plural replace these words with those.
Then from the same lesson
Not sure of the right answer for any, but tried familiar singular, and intent was
Which is surely formal, not sure if that is singular plural or both.
Would appreciate if someone could tell me the answer to familiar singular here and to singular for the fish
What software is this so I can avoid it if I decide to shore up my language skills?
DuoLingo … I was using it for a while, then I wasn’t. Haven’t decided yet if I want to resume it at some point, or try a different one.
Duolingo
For quite long I was reasonably content with it, even though doubted I was learning much. But recently the material on past tense is nearly incomprehensible to me. Learn by example, no explanation, rules, etc. And most recent sections have been stupid IMO: about animals doing things animals can’t do (learning French, cooking, going out to dinner)
Basic Duolingo if free. We paid for Super Duolingo for awhile, but not much different that we saw. You could get more info about why your answer was wrong. And with basic Duolingo there are limits on how many mistakes you can make before having to wait to have more hearts (lives) or buy hearts with points you have earned in earlier lessons (and I have tons of points)
What’s the best/a good program that’s liked better than Duolingo should I decide to get back into language learning?
Don’t know if it’s better but you can try Babel Fish. Our son is using it and likes it.
Fun fact: If you have read the book “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, you would know why it is called Babel Fish. Funny book.
I’ve read it but that was more than 30 years ago so there’s a lot I’ve forgotten. I remember “42” and “mostly harmless” and “so long and thanks for all the fish” from the second-smartest dolphins to the third-smartest humans. (The latter two subsequently made book titles in the “trilogy” of five books (maybe more?))
Duolingo might be using Latin American Spanish instead of Castillian(Spain). In Castillian, they have a plural informal “you” called Vosotros. So you would say Vosotros ya comisteis? But in Latin american spanish they use only the formal plural Ustedes which uses the third person plural conjugation “comieron”.
My favorite quotes:
Ford Prefect(asking Vogon about his job): So, the hours are good, are they?
Vogon guard: Yeah.Though now you come to mention it, most of the actual minutes are pretty lousy.
Might be a tense thing, “has comido?” in the perfect, not the preterite.
If I quickly tap the appropriate cycle button on the dishwasher, instead of leaning on it, I can get it to fire up. ![]()
We inherited the dishwasher from my sister and BIL years ago, so it owes us nothing. Still gonna look for a new one later.
I’m getting my assets in order for Company ABC for cash flow testing.
I’m looking at Schedule B and can’t find a damn thing that matches or makes sense.
The Schedule B I’m looking at is for Company XYZ.

I slipped and fell while shoveling the driveway. I do not have nearly enough fat on my hips to cushion the fall.
i feel like i remember watching this one on TV.
I tried to find the see-saw/teeter-totter one but couldn’t.
