I am at a dinner for a board I’m on and it could not be any more dull. I guess that’s why it’s a board and not an engaged.
I also had a discussion with him about it immediately after it was pushed to his calendar.
Board of Directors or Bored of Directors? Amirite?
gonna have a hard time finding the AO these days. Which should give him plenty to bitch about on GoA!
Its spelled b-o-r-e-d.

Of course, back in the day, you really couldn’t work from home.
Hmm. Actually, i did some work from home starting around 1996. I think once it became practical to do that, it became a lot less cool to show up at the office with messy illness symptoms.
Blast from the past right there. Classic.
on a day when so many of his other riffs are deservedly getting play. ESPY hosting legend!
This is more than annoyed, but…this seems like the best thread to vent in.
My brother-in-law has been in the hospital, and hasn’t been doing well.
My mother-in-law has been overwhelmed with the situation, with exhaustion and a malfunctioning hearing aid complicating matters. I could go on, and on with some of the ways this has manifested.
Since my wife is still recovering from her stroke, a friend of the family has been acting as the person who gets information from the hospital and distributes it to interested parties.
Today, MIL was supposed to have a discussion with the lead doctor on BIL’s case, conferencing my wife and myself in since MIL’s competence has been called into question by the hospital. However, apparently the conversation happened without us. Instead, we got a call later in the day where we didn’t learn much new, other than the doctor was supposed to call us sometime tomorrow.
When family friend called for the evening update, she learned that BIL had been shifted over to palliative care only.
It’s not clear whether MIL knowingly agreed to this and didn’t tell my wife, or if she said yes to a question she didn’t understand, or…
It should be noted that it’s entirely possible that the correct decision has been made regarding my BIL’s care.
While my wife has been recovering nicely from her stroke, she’s still not up for dealing with the chaos and drama that is her family, and regular sessions of post-stroke therapy are important for recovery. We knew there was a risk that we were going to need to go make an unhappy short-notice trip. But the way we found out about this…
I was this person too but I honestly felt it was expected. I’ve changed.
We finally got to speak with a doctor.
As near as I can tell, the doctor was saying that at some point soon they would need to either have BIL transferred to a bigger/more sophisticated hospital, since a diagnosis is going to require more than this medium-sized small city hospital can handle… and MIL somehow turned that into “they’re going to hurt my baby / it’s time to just let him rest…” and she’s all but refusing to leave his side.
Late today, our travel prep was interrupted because when they asked MIL to do one particular ugly-looking test, she waffled. My wife was called, questions were asked, permission was given…and MIL was temporarily kicked out of the room so they could do the test.
MIL is not a happy camper.
This trip is going to suck on so many levels.
Doctor says she’s going to hold the line until we can have a family meeting at the hospital. We’ve also learned that there is a mechanism to deem the official decision-maker incompetent and have them replaced. I hope we don’t have to do that, but…
Oh, ouch. That’s worse than an “annoyed” thought.

Pm me
You can PM MS or other users with hidden profiles. Just go to your PMs and start a new one and add MS. It’s extra work compared to just clicking his name, but it’s still possible.
Getting a cold. This is the 3rd one in 6 months. Wah.

I have a headache today…it might be from the April showers.
There has been a small water leak in front of my neighbors house for months. It looked to be an issue with the city rather than on their property. I figured they’d deal with it. I got tired of waiting for them to do something in January, when the water running down the street was making a nice sized ice patch in the street at the end of my driveway. I opened a ticket with the city myself to request leak repair.
I didn’t see anything happening for months. On 3/25 I was heading out of town and I saw a city guy doing some digging there. Yay! However, the leak is still going.
I contacted the city again. They told me “Leak Repair initiated on 1/30/24 was completed on 2/19/24.” And the case is closed. That’s 2 WTF: they didn’t fix it, and they must be backdating repair work to make it look like they did things in a timely fashion.
Now I start the whole thing over again I guess.
I guess the leak must be before the meter, or your neighbors would care. My neighbors had a leak that sounds like what you describe, only or was past the meter and BOY was that expensive.
Yes. I had a small leak myself after the meter. It was a very slow leak so it didn’t meaningfully affect my water bill. However if it’s after the meter the property owner is responsible. It was sort of expensive to fix due to where the leak was.
The city’s notes indicate it is a 6" main leak so they should be the responsible party.
My 401k is down 3% in the last week.
