Annoyed Thoughts

My car keys fell out of my jacket pocket in the grocery story without my knowing it. Luckily, another shopper flagged me down. :+1:

We used to love that game when I was a kid.
Glad you didn’t get stuck and need this guy.

today brought an industry pattern that annoys me.

terrible news of a plane crash. ~180 dead. inbox fills up with industry press telling us who is on the airplane hull coverage, who is lead, and that the event won’t be that bad. 180 people died in an instant - can we chase the money trail tomorrow?

I remember when a tragedy hit the news / bunch of people died on the job for an employer we covered and in hours it was all “does this trigger our catastrophic reinsurance coverage?” (It did, but like we didn’t even have the names of the victims yet as they were still notifying families.)

Just got back from our long Xmas trip tonight. There was a massive windstorm about a week ago and our neighbor’s giant tree lost a branch and took out our power for 3 days. So we come home to two fridges of mostly useless food. That much was expected.

The annoyed thought is there was still a branch on our power line, and most of our fence came down and likely crushed our pomegranate and some other plants. It’s too dark to assess the damage now, but tomorrow morning’s project is to see what I can do. Probably need to track down my fence guy and talk to the neighbors I guess.

I knew 2025 was going to suck, but this just gets me a headstart on the rest of you all.

I woke up stupid early and got up after an hour of unsuccessfully trying to go back to sleep. Now I’m tired and want to sleep but I have stuff to do.

Oh, and our garage door opener got fried when the power went out. Add it to the list.

Pro-tip. Don’t call the spouse stupid and expect to go back to sleep.

This reminds me of some deceptive marketing practices where the garage door company I hired intentionally made its name almost identical to a very reputable garage door company.

The 8 post limit is keeping me from posting in my music thread. Still listening to music though so that good.

I was often on the front line of these requests, and I definitely do not miss it.

Every month, I lose several pounds in the first week or two, then plateau for the rest of the month. The female hormone cycle is super weird.

We went to the Italian bakery that has the oh so good tiramisu: they’re closed until tomorrow. Wah. :frowning:

We are working with consultants on a project, and one of the project managers had to skip their international vacation to work on this project, due to some missteps along the way and deadlines they are still hoping to meet.

This is why I left consulting. Outrageous.

That’s why I never got into consulting in the first place!

That, and I have no people skills & I couldn’t BS my way through a cow barn…especially since the cows are in the barn & the bulls are kept outside.

i left and don’t miss that sort of demand. my work is very project oriented and deadline specific - but it is mostly predictable. if a new opportunity came up and I couldn’t make it work (esp for something like an already planned vacation!) I would just beg off the team and it would just happen. or i’d zoom in for some piece of it from overseas. but actually working working in place of that vacation? man, they must have really fouled up

I rely on another team for some numbers needed for revenue recognition. Their model is up to 64 tabs in a Google sheet, kill me now.
