Sometimes I don’t correct autocompletes…I just go with it

Heck, yeah. :us:

I guess I don’t pay attention enough.

Mostly clothing, Liquid IV, and contact solution.

Oh, on the different price thing, before I got my iPhone, STBX and I were both researching something we needed. And he was getting higher prices on his iPhone than I was on my Android for the exact same item from the exact same vendor.

It turns out that there’s a way for vendors to charge iPhone users (perceived as being wealthier) more than Android users if they want to do so.

Now I have an iPhone so I wouldn’t even have any way of knowing that I’m getting ripped off by that particular scam.

So, unlike certain posters, you’ve never shipped your pants?

Bagged off last night, figured if cut the lawn this morning instead. Now it’s pouring rain. Can’t cut it tomorrow because I’m going fishing. All when my spouse just told me they want me to put some increased effort into keeping the yard up better. So now I have an overgrown lawn, a task hanging over my head, and a spouse who’s asked me to do something that I haven’t done.

I think I’ll deep clean the bathrooms today. That’ll at least maybe stave off the spouse.

Don’t put down carpet if you have dampness issues. Mildewy carpet is horrible. But there are lots of nice flooring options in tile right now, which would be fine for the bathroom, and serviceable for “hang out” space for teenage boys.

French drains aren’t wildly expensive and can help a lot with basement dampness.

Anyone who goes for tiles right now and doesnt go with a penrose tile, is dead to me.

I looked for Penrose tiles for my kitchen backsplash and didn’t find anything suitable. :woman_shrugging:

Ive looked a couple times as well. Looks.like the manufacturer’s haven’t had time to develop.
Plus it’s a pretty niche product I guess. Only myself, plus nerds would want it.

Could also do vinyl planks (I’m refusing to call them ‘luxury’) or a sheet flooring. We did the latter in our basement and it’s held up well and it was inexpensive.

I wanted old school linoleum but the wife exercised her veto power. Linoleum was invented in the 1800s and was wildly popular in the early 1900s so it’s appropriate for an old house. At least, in my opinion.

Linoleum is soft, and can get gummy as it ages. It used to come in all sorts of attractive patterns, though, including “fake carpet”.

Have you considered asbestos tiles?

I feel like it’s a decent balance of cost and durability. I removed the lino in my basement in 2020, it was installed in 1968. It should have been replaced sooner but it wasn’t in half bad shape. Ours actually went the other way and it was really brittle. Which kind of helped with the removal.

Lol. Surprised they didn’t put asbestos in cereal in the 1940s. These days lino is pretty much just linseed oil, wood, and pigment.

I put something in the portion of my basement that once leaked which looks like wood, but which the flooring guy said you could literally use to line a swimming pool.

I think it’s been properly fixed, but if there were ever to be a problem again it would be in the same place so for like $200 more I did that kind of floor plus a rug rather than carpet.

Cable and internet went down last night during storms and never came back. One TV outside is working, so signal is here but neither the router or inside cable box are working.

Xfinity is so annoying now as they refuse to let you speak with a human under any circumstances unless you go to a store (where of course they can’t really help a service issue at your house). Disgusted enough that I’m ready to switch. I’ll probably let them fix this tomorrow, but start the process of changing providers

was working a youth sports tournament this weekend. assigned a partner. between games in chit chat about things we have seen in games and how the strange stuff is hard to predict, he takes the weird/hard to predict to segue into “this is BY FAR the craziest time in the history of the world. I could play in this (u14) tournament tomorrow if i said I identified as a 14 yr old boy. I COULD! I was working a 16U softball tournament last week and told the girls I might play against them next year if I declared I identified as a 16 yr old girl. and there’s nothing anyone can say!” (let’s ignore how weird it is that a 60yr old would say that to teen girls)

I just told him that’s not true and not how it works. and then moved on bc…we had a game to call. good official (knew rules and controlled the game) but also had a weird streak where it was all about him. we will not be staying in touch.

That could also be cross-posted to the Innumeracy thread.

Why couldn’t you take it someplace else?
