Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

I ordered something a couple of weeks ago. It was not a Christmas present, just a regular purchase. It was supposed to be delivered 12/24.

UPS shows “on the way” followed by “delay” on 12/24. However there are no specific updates like you’d usually see (time picked up, places scanned, estimated delivery date…). They have no idea where it is, just “Delay” with a caution sign. It just shows this quote at the top: “We’re sorry for the inconvenience. If you are the sender, please check with the receiver to confirm delivery. Otherwise, you may start a claim to provide a resolution.”

my son’s new iphone is 6 days old. a pushed OS upgrade caused it to not recognize the sim card. an hour of chat ended when their system seemed to freeze, problem unresolved.

when these things stop working I end out having to deal w it and understand how rage murders get started.

After hours of vzw chat, time in the store, calls between me and my distant son, an upgrade to a tier 2 tech supoort chat person, and finally a trip to best buy we have an answer.

The phone we had was a lemon. New(er) phone received in exchange, son promoted to management (cell phone account management), and a ton of human time in the toilet.

Yay, technology!

Yeah, it’s annoying.

Last night there weren’t too many fireworks, but I could hear the neighbors counting down & shouting “mazel tov” at midnight … they must’ve been outside.

Up until that moment I had no idea that shouting “mazel tov” at midnight on NYE was a thing. It makes sense… I’d just never thought about it.

But I remember my old dog was terrified of fireworks. 4th of July was worse, but NYE was bad too.

we most likely yelled Mazel Tov on the cork pop, not necessarily midnight

This was right at the stroke of midnight. Maybe there was champagne involved, but I think it might have been teenagers, so probably not.

We had two bunches of fireworks - one at 11 and another at 12. I"m not sure whether the ones at 11 were due to the east coast countdowns or because of the Ohio State game.

Our provincial insurance regulator sends out routine reminders from their audit department with a title starting with (regulator) AUDIT…

Everytime I get a reminder I have a heart attack.

I managed to be sick for my entire 2 week Christmas staycation, and now I’m STILL SICK.

Also of note - has anyone ever had their uvula get so inflammed that you intermittently coughed and had it stick to the back of your tongue and then you had to re-swallow your own uvula? I don’t recommend it.

Obligatory Family Guy video:

If I want to take a long walk through the ravine, I need to do it soon, because sunset is at 5:18 tonight. That’s only four hours after I woke up!

Not really annoyed, but the message sounds awful to me. Wouldn’t it be better to say something like “Get a stuffed animal made to look just like your pet”, instead of suggesting they are taxidermists?

I’ve heard that it is really hard to taxidermy a pet so that it actually looks like the pet since they don’t mount the skin on the actual bones. Taxidermied animals tend to look generic and lose the unique look of the pet.

The wifi at my regular sbux has been wonky the last few days. Me annoyed.

I’m ready for ice fishing. We just Went from blizzard of the century to no snow. I could cut the lawn right now. And they were ice fishing last week dagnabit.

New problem, I’ve got to figure out how to get enough ice fishing equipment for 15-20 people for our camping trip, currently have 8. And, I have to do it on a budget, because married. And I have to do it without mentioning that I could solve the problem with the same spend my spouse just dumped on some plant thing for the living room.

So I see crappy tire has ice fishing rods on sale, two left, and reels, also on clearance. Both together, 15 bucks. Great. Go to one store and get the rods. Drive to another store, pick up the reels, and they don’t fit the rods. So now I have to return the rods, and the problem still isn’t solved.

took me about 30 seconds

It’s annoying when people post links on social media to videos or articles without any commentary on why they are sharing it. Unless it’s an article with an appealing title, I’m not clicking on it. I’m really not interested in wasting time to figure out the goal or the crap “proof” in videos.

Being condensplained.

Just watched the cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie “Sense, Sensibility and Snowmen”. Obviously they are ripping the plot off the Jane Austen novel, which is fine… actually means it’s less likely to be super dumb than if they came up with an original plot.

The book centers on sisters Elinor, who represents “Sense” in the title, and Marianne, who represents “Sensibility”.

But the movie gets this exactly backwards… Marianne is the hard-nosed businesswoman and Ella is the one who is driven by her feelings. They reversed Sense and Sensibility!!!

The sisters end up with the men of similar names to the novels, but they have likewise flip-flopped the names / personality traits of the male characters.

If you’re going to rip off the title, plot, and characters from Jane Austen and not even try to hide that you’re doing it… just … be consistent!!!

Are those names from the book, or could you have just get which characters were supposed to be “sense” & “sensibility” wrong?
