Did you put the eggs in a pan/pot before putting them on the stove or just treat the stove as a hot plate?
No. I mean, yes.
Wait, is this a trick question?
Damn it, knoath, I’m an actuary, not a head chef!
Eggs, amirite??
We made ramen last week and I tried some sous vide eggs, can’t overcook them that way. I started at 150° and that was juuuuust a tad runny for my taste, so I turned it up to 155° and that was what I wanted.
Gonna try our sous vide machine this week. It’s been sitting in the closet for over a year.
Better use it before May 10!!!

I seem to have lost a pair of shorts.
Winter storm warning in effect. Seriously?
I’ll give you this, but I don’t consider visual confirmation necessary. Tornadoes in my neck of the woods are often cloud-wrapped, or may come at night. They are not your typical Great Plains image of a tornado. Debris fields visible on radar (which sometimes happen) are confirmatory enough. Tornadoes can rise back into the clouds while along their path and later re-descend.
There is a fine line with public safety in weather events. Frequently call it too dangerous and people get blase (pretend I found the accent acute), undersell and more people die.
I won’t disagree with any of this, especially since radars can now determine tornado debris signatures (depending on the intensity of the tornado, what it’s hitting, and the distance from the radar site to the tornado.)
I’m pretty sure that the NWS office in Memphis isn’t using any of that to determine its wording for tornado warnings, though. I would much rather the NWS be accurate in its language, which at times it’s not and which Memphis at times seems to just go rogue.
I am definitely for them following the MSOPs.
Less than two weeks until lawyers and experts from a large multinational corp go up against me, represented by Canada’s top class action lawfirm in that industry… In a local small claims court.
But everyone’s gone silent. So now I get to work through irrational stress and anxiety apparently. Lack of info on strategy is killing me. Even though I’m confident of winning and even though there’s no downsides.
Spending my morning building my statement. What a document of anger that I don’t need in my life.
Almost $50 for lunch for three at Panera…
Anecdotally, it seems that fast food and fast casual food prices have ramped up significantly, but the local places near me have increased prices little if at all. I think Chipotle is the exception, I could be wrong but it feels like their prices haven’t gone up by as much.
Your Panera experience matches mine, I usually get a you-pick-two and a fountain drink and it’s about $17 with tip. I think a year or so ago it was more like $13.
You tip at Panera? Where? At the register? At the pickup counter where eou get your tray? There are no tip cups in my Panera.
When I put my credit card in the machine it pops up. I just tip a buck, maybe two, my local Panera staff are really great. There’s also a tipping option when I order in the app.
I’m on a first-name basis with the GM. He’ll often give me the drink for free and then I’m tipping $2-$3.
Upscale Restuarant.
I’m only middle management, I can’t afford to eat at Panera.
