Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

Yeah I won’t be doing that 3rd bedroom or the hallways. Just too much trouble.

We got rid of popcorn ceilings in our house but still have some. Built in the late 70’s. Never occurred to me it might have asbestos. We’ll probably DIY the rest of it in the next couple years.

Had a long talk with my dr about lead when the kids were small. Tested the blinds but the instructions were confusing and results inconclusive. Her response was to not let the kids suck on the blinds.

ETA: I know when we bought the house there was some kind of required disclosure about the potential of lead paint but not about asbestos. I know we used eye protection and masks when removing it. I also know we had some professionally removed because we were having other work done in that room. Nothing was ever said about asbestos. I know someone who does asbestos removal tho, so I might ask him about it.

Some solicitor showed up at my door. I was going to ignore him, but the numbnuts just stood there while my dog was going nuts for a long time. I got sick of hearing the dog barking at him, so I had to go open the door and tell him to get lost.

A big black barking dog is handy to tell people to GTFO.

Any kind of travel gives me trapped gas. Glad to be back home after twelve hours on the road.

@Echo: KIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLL!!! :+1:

Who’s a gud gurl??? Are you a gud gurl??? Of course you are!!!

Took the kids bowling for spring break. Right after I got a turkey, the power goes out.

Looks like a larger outage - not just the bowling place. Going to be a while to fix. We’ll come back another day.

Is there any way to just tell Youtube that I am never going to want to see certain types of videos? The ones I have in mind are random music videos.

I can, and do, click “I’m not interested” and give the reason “I don’t like this video”. That seems to increase (or at least have no impact on) the number of other music video recommendations they make. I’ve also clicked on “don’t recommend this channel”, but that doesn’t seem like it would work since they all come from different channels.

Well, I keep getting recommended videos that I’ve already watched. I can see the red progress bar goes all the way across the bottom of the thumbnail. I use the “don’t recommend channel” button copiously, and now apparently there’s not much more for me to see. Woe, woe is me!

Yeah, that’s annoying too. If it’s been a while, okay. But sometimes it gives me things I watched yesterday.

A dude on a motorcycle tried to off himself by cutting me off on the highway. Lucky for me (since I didn’t want to add to meep’s mortality study today) the bike was loud which gave me time to swerve into the shoulder and miss him. My heart may be permanently damaged tho. Sheesh! I laid on the horn but he just went on his merry way speeding through moderately heavy traffic. I pray he doesn’t drag anyone else into his death wish.

We went to a funeral today for one of our parishioners: the church was cold. I did some work in my Dungeon, which is also cold. I’m only starting to warm up now.

A trip to the local Sbux for a hot cup o’ Joe (& some insignificant signals) oughta warm you right up!

I’m not feeling great. Getting a cold sore, so it’s not in my head (just on it). Guess I’ll use another covid test tomorrow.

People still get covid?

There’s a surge in Europe, and we’re expected to see more cases soon as well.

It’s a seasonal endemic respiratory virus. People will be getting covid for the rest of our lives.

So, it’s a springtime thing then?

Depends where you are, but there is a slight seasonal stimulus in March/April in some latitudes (where you can also expect a bigger stimulus in late fall/early winter).

Mid-late summer & mid-late winter in more tropical latitudes.

Nobody in my extended family has it yet, except my sister in law just got it last week. We’ve got a lot of people still to get it and I’m hearing that friends family’s are getting over the last month or so.
Haven’t seen the numbers, but we must be surging here.
