Annoyed Thoughts: archive 1

Did you give him a knowing wink and a nod?

Not really.

He gave me a knowing wink and a nod, as in, “I gotcha, bud…me too…me too…”

This was in very blue state during the Trump administration.

Cross post to insignificant signals thread.

I wonder how much your guess depends on the wildly-inaccurate assumptions you made about my family.

Taxes were filed in late March or early April, 2021, I think. e-file. Refund was received within about a week or two, so taxes were completely processed by early-to-mid April.

Yes.

2020 AGI was slightly under $150k. Expect 2021 AGI might be slightly above $150k, but the IRS shouldn’t know that yet.

We’ll see. Your guess is as good as mine at this point. :woman_shrugging:
Ftr, my guess is the December payment will be =RANDBETWEEN(0,550) and might depend on how many times the IRS agent presses F9 the day it processes.

Yeah, it’s hard without knowing your income. I was backfilling income assumptions. Actually, I didn’t look up the phaseout rules either, so I might be off there too.

Hmmm, that makes the November payment really strange.

Was younger kid on the 2019 return?

I still think that the fact that September was 125% of August is making up for the fact that July was $0 and they were intending to give you 25% of July in each of September-December.

And probably July - September were based on 2019 and then October was based on 2020. But November…

Oh, interesting:

Note: For evidence for Department of Motor Vehicles/Driver’s License (REAL ID): Federal law (REAL ID) no longer requires states to see proof of your Social Security number (SSN), though some states may still choose to require proof. To learn about the REAL ID requirements in your state, check with your Department of Motor Vehicles or appropriate agency.

So maybe I’m just unlucky in timing, and my state will eventually update the rules.

The saying “to you and yours” annoys me.

Meanwhile, the DMV asked for my passport for a non-real-id renewal. I gave them the info, and it said it couldn’t find it. So it asked me to upload a document. I scanned the passport, and uploaded that. Then the website said “unexpected error” and refused to complete my request.

Sigh.

My husband, a web developer, thinks I should give up and try again tomorrow.

Ouch

I don’t like that Outlook pops up a message every time I have a new email.

…two minutes later…

Just changed the setting. Let’s see whether that materially improves my experience or not.

The store didn’t have fresh peaches today. Had to get plums instead :frowning:

Honestly the first time I’ve been hit by a shortage. There are sometimes quantity restrictions but I’ve never been unable to get anything.

That’s always a productivity killer. I encourage everyone to turn that notification off.

Isn’t it really the ceiling of your mouth?

I just set it up so the little envelope flag shows on the Outlook icon in the dock.

Hmm I’m going to need to digest that one for a bit.
