A Reminder of where America is heading

These figures never include model uncertainty.

The Index has been around for over 50 years but I couldn’t find the older values.

For the birthright citizenship case (hearing this Wednesday), the DOJ is citing the work of a former Confederate officer who later was a segregationist who advocated for Jim Crow laws. That is, it is now official DOJ policy that we should listen to avowed white supremacists about immigration.

We already have plenty of Congressmen, the VP and the POSOTUS listening to Hungary’s dictator on the subject. (Per LWTwJO, last night.)

Maybe it has always been thus but folks struggling to pay rent and buy groceries might view spending $1000 per month on dog grooming to be offensive?

Fortunately, the folks who are struggling to pay rent and buy groceries right now probably cut their NYT subscriptions awhile ago.

In case you wondered if the administration thought that legal immigration was a good thing, they don’t. Not really sure why the article has California in the headline as denying SBA loans to green card holders is now national policy.

There is something deeply wrong with this individual.

Its like nature cooked up the worst possible form of narcissism and foisted it upon the world.

It’s not the least surprising that Donald Trump exists. What’s surprising is that he received more than 5% of the votes in any election.

I can not respect Trump voters, I am distrustful of my neighbors, and I am skeptical of the human race in general.

Yes, the golden statue at 1:07 looks very tall.

I watched it twice just to be sure. Everyone might be surprised that not a single person of color is in the video. There may be some way back in the crowd but since this is AI crap the crowd is mostly just gray faceless heads.

I assume the prompt didn’t say anything about that, so the AI is likely making its own assumptions about Trump’s fan base.

There are some spots with clearer faces. Yep, they all seem white to me.

I assume the video came from the architectural firm, they have a credit frame at the end. I assume they use something more specific to architectural renderings than off the shelf AI.

A nice follow up to firing the Army Chief of Chaplains (which had never been done before).

Wait, are we actually going back to Catholics being suspect for their allegiance to the Pope?

I’m not so sure about the ā€œsuspectā€ part. Maybe more like ā€œthe enemyā€? Don’t forget, there has already been a back and forth between Trump and the Pope about Trump attacking Iran.

Pretty sure this quote from Mississippi Burning sums up Pete’s positions pretty well

  • Clayton Townley: I told you, I’m a businessman. I’m also a Mississippian, and an American! And I’m getting SICK and TIRED of the way us Mississippians are getting our views distorted by you newsmen and on the TV. So let’s get this straight. We do NOT accept Jews, because they REJECT Christ! And their control over the International Banking Cartels are at the root of what we call Communism today. We do not accept Papists, because they bow to a Roman dictator! We do not accept Turks, Mongrels, Tartars, Orientals nor Negroes because we are here to protect Anglo-Saxon Democracy, and the American way!

The depressing thing is that Pete would like to fill the military with people who believe exactly that. And, he has the time to go a long way down that path. Think of all the black people and women and people who might lean Democrat that are going to decide to not enlist or not re-enlist 2.5 years. And, how many officers will be forced out.

First paragraph of the NSF budgetary request:

The U.S. National Science Foundation’s Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Request reflects a strategic alignment of resources in a constrained fiscal environment while eliminating woke and weaponized grant programs that previously funded radical DEI projects. NSF is prioritizing investments that have the greatest potential to address the most critical, high-priority challenges and opportunities identified by the Administration, Congress, and the science and technology community.

Given that the Pope is a White Sox fan, yes. Or maybe because of stuff like this:
