Oh look, another firing of a senior military officer who happens by pure coincidence to be black and / or female.

The head of the Defense Health Agency (DHA), the health system for millions of service members and their dependents, was forced to abruptly retire Friday, Reuters reported.

Army Lt. Gen. Telita Crosland, one of the most senior Black female officers in the Army who has served in her role since January 2023, “is beginning her retirement” as of Friday morning, according to a statement from Stephen Ferrara, the acting assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.

The statement offered no reasoning for Crosland’s quick departure, but two officials told Reuters that she was informed that she must retire and was not given a reason why.

The move comes exactly a week after President Trump fired six senior military officers, including the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman and the first female head of the Navy.

In 2021, Steve Berger, an evangelical pastor who has attacked the separation of church and state as “a delusional lie” and called multinational institutions “demonic,” set off on an ambitious project. His stated goal: minister to members of Congress so that what “they learn is then translated into policy.” His base of operations would be a six-bedroom, $3.7 million townhouse blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

Recently, the pastor scored a remarkable coup for a political influence project that has until now managed to avoid public scrutiny. He got a new roommate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has been staying at the home since around the beginning of this year, according to interviews and videos obtained by ProPublica.

The house is owned by a major Republican donor and Tennessee car magnate who has joined Berger in advocating for and against multiple bills before Congress.

Just what the US needs…

Another (likely mentally ill) right-wing religious crackpot.

This is precisely why I have always found religion so corrosive to society in the long-run.

You invariably end up creating people just like this guy Berger.

And these people have zero interest in co-existing with others who do not share their views.

At curling last night, I heard a guy who’s just returned complaining about stuff in the U.S. being more expensive than in Newfoundland. People her frequently complain about how expensive stuff is here vs. the rest of Canada (though in my experience that’s largely overblown).

Is the debut piece free markets or personal liberties? Seems like the opposite of either, pure propaganda for personal interests.

I agree, but it’s also weird that he didn’t wear a suit IMO. I was going to say that it’s so weird I wonder if it was a setup, except I see in photos he’s met with other world leaders, including Biden, also not in a suit even when the other leaders are wearing suits. I guess he doesn’t like suits. (Barney Stinson would be disappointed.)

He does seem to own them though as there are also plenty of photos of him wearing them.

ETA: Obviously what he wears isn’t really that important… it’s just a little odd.

He is a leader of a country being actively invaded and its people killed in war. He is wearing a wartime outfit, which is arguably more socially appropriate than an elite and unnecessary garb put on for show.

No suit because war.

Simple answer. Russia bombed my closet.

Ok, maybe less weird than I realized. I didn’t know that national leaders not wearing suits during wartime was a thing.

Seeing Trump in a suit reminds me of an old saying about “putting lipstick on a pig” for some reason.

I think the UK is about 30 years ahead of you on that one.

Its just insane how uneducated Republican voters are.

They see Russia as an ally.

There’s ignorant/uneducated and then there’s stupid. I’m frequently the first. Given the past few years, a good chunk of the American public are not just uneducated - they’re willfully leaning into the second one.

Not to worry. We are vigorously educating them. Soon they will all believe Dear Leader’s Truths.
