I’m obliged to tune away when I encounter audio of his speaking. There’s something about his speech patterns that is intolerable to my brain.

I wonder whether video that has no audio track would be any better.

Sadly, I fear I now have my work cut out for me, training the YouTube to not send me such content, despite my misfortune of having clicked on that link.

I don’t get this. The cost to acquire should simply be added to the price to consumers.
I’d understand if beef were not actually available. That would be a crisis.
Or, will ALL customers simply not pay? I mean, that might be the issue. So, buy less of it, or make less of it per day if the quantity demanded is falling. Econ 101.

Wondering what is left on the menu. Chicken and Pig stuff?

Perhaps they are betting saying unavailable would result in less customer disruption than a large price increase. Not every customer believes menu prices vary only by input costs. How can a customer judge the x dollar increase is due to inputs and not opportunistic pricing?

That is none of their business.
Their business is to look at a price and determine if the product is worth it.
Assuming all participants are rational.

The business owner can’t tell the customer how to decide what and where to buy. They have feelings that help inform them whether it is worth it, and they also have feelings that tell them to go to another place to eat.

If I paid $15 for ribs last week and now i see the price is $20, I might decide it isn’t worth coming back. I don’t know how the business set its price, and they don’t know how I made up my mind. Imperfect information and all.

That’s probably why shrinkflation is a thing.

Again, why should the business care why you don’t buy, and why should you care why the price changed? Prices go up, and fewer customers buy. Econ 101, until wages go up in a similar manner.

Feelings. Showing feelings of an almost ‘human’ nature.
This will not do.

All consumers make these decisions, should be making this decision very time they purchase something. Doesn’t have to be made public.
All businesses have to decide on the prices of their products or services such that they can make a profit. Doesn’t have to be made public.

Um, what?
Of course you should!
But, my opinion shouldn’t affect your decision. Unfortunately there are a ton of variables (lack of demand, regulations, economies of scale, etc.) that go in to a mfr’s decision not to make sticks that have nothing to do with a small minority of car buyers (and most people who prefer a stick already have a car with a stick – cars aren’t consumed quickly enough to require frequent purchasing).

I assume that there is a minimum amount of brisket that can be prepared at a time. If costs are such that they won’t be able to sell enough to profit, given that minimum, then it makes no economic sense to offer it.

I grew up in Memphis, host to the annual world BBQ championships.

Coming from that background, I’m obliged to say that real 'que is only pork, although other meats can be barbequed.

For wet, I personally prefer turkey…but I’m odd. For dry, I prefer chicken. If I’m getting BBQ spaghetti (it’s a thing), I prefer pulled chicken to pulled pork. At the local (and sadly increasingly disappointing) BBQ place in my corner of the Hartford area, I used to like their “poutine” with either turkey or texas sausage. (At least their sauces are still good enough that I rarely have supplies shipped up from Memphis.)

True. They can be pretty large slabs of beef. Googly A.I.'s says 12 to 16 pounds at a time.
