20Q Game 28

So… It’s solid, it’s not food, and it has an odor.

Scented candles?
Something made of rubber?

It’s bigger than those car freshener things, or a dryer fabric softener sheet.

What solid things are smelly?

Oh geez, that was a terrible question. I’m sorry guys.

I’ve wondered in this game: is a poodle man-made? My gut says “no”, but without intervention by humans there almost certainly wouldn’t be any animal that looks like a poodle…,

Similar for things like broccoli and cauliflower.

True!

I suppose a topiary would be both alive and man-made, but I gotta confess that I wasn’t really thinking through how few living items are man-made when I asked the question.

Topiary would be a great thing to clue, in a “they will be frustrated and won’t get it” way.

Maybe an old-fashioned radiator? Those always smell in the fall, when they burn off dust and crap. It’s the right size.

Or an engine. Like… An auto engine is about the right size. Or a small lawnmower. (I wonder if size is measured here in volume or largest dimension or…)

So what constitutes solid (Q6)? Can it have parts if it is solid? I’d guess no. If that is correct, then things like lawnmowers are out. Possibly radiators too since they usually have a bleed valve which moves, therefore maybe not solid.

eh that’s not how I’d define it. If something is majority solid I’d call it a solid.

A dishwasher is solid, for example.

A car is solid.

Does it emit heat under normal use (that can be detected by human touch, not in the radioactive decay sense…which would be yes for everything)

  1. (John.S.Mill) Does it have scent or odor? Yes
  2. (MayanActuary) Is it meant to be ingested? No
  3. (Lucy) Is it manmade? Yes
  4. (MayanActuary) Can I purchase it at my local mall? Maybe, depending on what you consider a "mall"
  5. (twig93) Is it alive? No
  6. (twig93) Is it solid? Yes
  7. (twig93) Would it fit in a standard size microwave oven? No
  8. (Kat987) Is it larger than a dishwasher? No
  9. (John.S.Mill) Does it emit heat under normal use (that can be detected by human touch, not in the radioactive decay sense…which would be yes for everything)? No

Is it typically kept inside the home?

My interpretation is the same as JSM’s.

Is the smell pleasant?

I’m really puzzled by this. I don’t have much around the house that has a significant odor other than living things, food, beverages, and stuff like soap/shampoo/deodorant. That’s partly because I have a good sense of smell, and don’t like “covering odors”, but I am having trouble thinking of things in other people’s homes, as well.

A cedar chest? Those are often larger than a dishwasher, but don’t have to be.

Good question!

I’ll just ask the questions for you brainstormers until Q19.

Does it use water?

Unofficial: Diaper disposal thing.
