20Q Game 24

If the answer to question 17 is “yes” then I will officially guess Immanuel Kant as question 18. If the answer to the moral philosopher question is “no” then I will have to think on the next question.

Or who was the philosopher they met in heaven who had been there a loooooooong time?

Hmmmmmm, I was just thinking that Kant was Chidi’s go-to guy. I thought that most of the philosophers weren’t in The Good Place. Or at least that’s what Michael said in Season One, but he was still a bad guy at that point, so maybe he was lying.

Oooh, I thought we had a “don’t ask two questions in a row” rule.

I think that was to discourage obvious trolls from hogging all the questions and ruining the game.

I almost just asked if it was Immanuel Kant as question 17, but figured I’d better make sure that we were talking about a philosopher first, before diving right in.

Either way, I think it’s obvious that I’m not trying to troll and ruin the game by eating up all the questions.

The fact that JSM had to check a wiki to know whether they lived in the US should say something, right? That rules out aristotle or whatever.

I haven’t seen much good place, by my unofficial guess at this point is that JSM chose JSM.

hint1: twig is onto something here
hint2: Kristin Bell might be distantly relevant. Connect many dots.
*subject to interpretation, and even then, the answer is hard to verify
**Maybe at some point

I’ll gives similar clues at 10, 15, and 19 I suppose. Depending on how far astray you guys end up.

Yeah . . . anytime you’re going to use a “many dots to connect” type clue, you would also need some sort of direction in which to dot-connect.

I’ve found “lateral thinking” type clues that are “one-step-removed” from the item to be good/fun clues.

But I think using people’s Q’s up to the point of giving the clue is ideal as it can help people know where to focus their ideas and discussion.

Yes, sensei

I’m not sure if you’re the best person to be giving this advice…

Perhaps ShundayBloodyShunday should be in here giving that kind of advice?

It is John S Mill?

Hmmm, he did give Kristen Bell as a clue, not William Jackson Harper. And Eleanor (Bell’s character) was more interested in utilitarianism, so yeah, John S Mill is probably right.

Chidi was the moral philosophy professor and favored Kant, but since that’s not it…

I guessed that because it’s his user name and a moral philosopher.

Congrats! I was really trying to give away the answer at this point. My clue after 19 was gonna be “It’s right in front of your eyes!”

I’ll come up with something soon.

But I’m logging off now, so no answers until tomorrow morning.
