2025 CAS Elections

That is why I was wondering about the number of Fellows since the requirement to pass the by-laws requires at least 10% of Fellows to vote Yay! for this. The announcement doesn’t explicitly indicate if this requirement was satisfied (e.g., % of eligible FCAS voting).

It wouldn’t have mattered, not like you have a real choice in who to vote for. You’re just picking between various flavors of milquetoast.

I’m not that interested in doing the actuarials on it, but their comment was that one of the two criteria were satisfied. Fine, whatever, I couldn’t vote for it either way.

Given some of the ideas in the past to “streamline processes” or “make a minor tweak to language” that looked and felt more like a naked power grab from the membership into the hands of a few, and some of the crappy ideas that have been thrown out with 0 discussion with the membership that had to be walked back, if I had voting rights for Bylaw and Constitution changes I’d be very strongly inclined to vote against anything that didn’t explicitly expand the power of the membership to control the CAS and/or rein in power vested in the various boards, presidents and CEO and staff.
