2025-26 NHL Thread: Finals - Vegas vs. Carolina, Where No Lead Is Safe

Andersen is particularly critical at this point. The backup Bussi had a ridiculously good regular season, but is young and has never seen playoff action, and didn’t get to do so in the first 2 series because Andersen did so well that the Canes swept and he didn’t have to play. Should Andersen take an injury, there will be very real concerns for goaltender #2 having not played in a month with no playoff exposure.

Knew it all along…

At this point they really should rename it to America’s Cup

Despite Canadians being the majority of players on the two Stanley Cup finalists?

Strong start, nonexistent 2nd period, exciting ending. Vegas did an excellent job capitalizing on defensive mistakes. Also, awwwwful power play.

Yes, thank you for your indentured service!

Then we can lose it to the Kiwis, eventually the Swiss get it a couple times, then the Kiwis finally win it and we never get it back?

Or, great penalty kill.

Wondering how much more careful with the puck everyone will be on Thursday.

Over lunch listening to the pundits they appear to agree just awful power play execution. Total optics, but it didn’t look like they knew what the plan was. Errant passing and unforced turnovers as opposed to contested battles that were lost (which is where I would swing to great kill).

In any case, glad I got to go get some really expensive but delicious BBQ nachos.

IFYP. Canadian make up only about 40% of current NHL players and even less on Carolina.

Don’t focus on Carolina. Look up the number of Vegas Canucks and add that to the Carolina Canucks. That number should be the plurality of the players on the two teams in the final.

The question is, why doesn’t Canada want its own native players?

You did initially say majority. Did a quick count of starting lineups. Carolina has 8 of 20 Canadians while Vegas does have a majority with 11 of 20.

The question is, why doesn’t Canada want its own native players?

Montreal would love to have more francophone players, There aren’t that many top level players from Quebec anymore. From what I have heard the francophone players don’t like playing in Montreal due to obligation to the french media for interviews.

Apparently going up 2-0 is a bad strategy in this series…

Fortunately for both teams the series itself is safely tied up at 1-1

Of course I go to the game we lose instead of the OT thriller! Still fun though.

Also bad strategy!

By the end of the night, it’s going to feel like someone’s up 4-3 in a best-of-21.
