No surprises so far. New Jersey may have to call up AHL folks at the rate guys are dropping. Awfully dumb of Markstrom to decide to one-hand slash Svechnikov and get his own guy instead.
Ottawa is going to learn playoff hockey isn’t “just go do dumb shit all over the ice against Toronto,” especially since that’s not how they beat the Leafs 3 times this year.
Didn’t see Vegas/Minnesota last night. They should play earlier for all of us East/Midwest time snobs.
We get WSH/MTL and LA/EDM finally kicking off tonight. No, I won’t stay up for LA/EDM. Probably not staying up for COL/DAL either, though the way Dallas played on Saturday it might want to show up for this one or this series is going to be over quick.
Both of these series are interesting for me and fortunately I am in an accommodating time zone. These are two series where the first game should reveal more than in most series. Home teams are under a lot of pressure.
I didn’t get to see Colorado/Dallas, but if St. Louis/Winnipeg only had 62 combined hits then (1) hits were under-counted [which, IMO this stat - along with giveaways and takeaways - is fairly meaningless even after attempts by the NHL to get this so it’s more uniform across all arenas], or (2) COL/DAL must have been even more of a battle all night long.
I’m really eager to hear what “valuable lesson” the Blues learned from last night. Maybe it can be quit shoving guys into your goalie.
It’s only the 3rd period of Game 3, but Toronto looks like a team that, when the Finals are all over and the Cup is awarded, you look back at right now and say “that’s when you could tell the Maple Leafs were going to win the Cup.”
