Im interested to see how serious the players take this tournament. Im sure for those that havent played in the olympics (most) there is a nice feeling of having the best possible rosters (as opposed to the world championships).

But at the end of the day its a midseason non-olympic tournament. Who knows

Kings on 5-game win streak, start on an 7-game road trip.
They’ll be hooooommmmmme for Christmas…

When this happens I wonder WTF is happening at Staplo.com Arena…
OK, Disney on Ice for a few days, Stevie Wonder for a day, two LAL games.

Trevor Lewis stuck on 999 games played, now on injured reserve.

Oh they will take it very seriously. When you play for team canada, you play hard. And some of the games will be in Montreal so the atmosphere will be very compelling.

Last day in Vegas. I couldn’t find anything last night that was compelling enough to want to bet, but I looked at Colorado, Carolina, Winnipeg and St. Louis and thought if I was going to bet, I’d take them. But, I also looked at Nashville and thought no way a 7-game losing streak goes to 8 and thought New Jersey might scratch out a win over Toronto.

Still up $42 for the trip. I’ll take that.

Kings starting to look like they will make playoffs this year. I thought the Canucks would be ahead of them by now but Canucks can’t win much at home; have won only 4 of 14 at home versus 10 of 13 on the road.

Guy doesn’t want to play in Canada, buffalo, or Columbus.

Didnt realize the Kings Devils game was in balck and white tonight

Sharing this Athletic article because of a personal connection. If it doesn’t open I will re-gift it via my NY Times account.

Every Ontario boy who has ever played hockey has the same dream: to some day play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This entertaining article talks about Ben Danford’s initiation with the Leafs.

Personal connection is that Ben’s grandpa was my best buddy back in my high school days.

the Rangers are imploding and I am here for it, just like all the other hockey chaos I enjoy.

They’ve lost 10 of 13 and have had the easiest schedule in the NHL so far this season. (according to this: NHL Strength of Schedule Rankings)

I thought it was interesting that at something like 12-5-1, GM Chris Drury sends out a notice to everyone else in the league that he’s ready to trade guys and that Trouba and Kreider are definitely available. Makes you wonder what was going on then for him to decide that.

Granted, Trouba had been on the trade block for a little while and the Rangers couldn’t find somewhere he’d waive his NTC to go to, and the threat of waivers finally convinced him to go to Anaheim, but still … generally you don’t mess with a team that’s playing well with that kind of a statement.

Quite shocking, same with Nashville. How do you add Stamkos and Machesseault and get significantly worse?

Another good road win for LAK. Came from behind, but had already lost two leads before that.

PIT game OTL. Kings were the Kings of the OT back in the day, but looks like everyone caught up.

Its Christmas and the Rangers are out of a playoff spot. What teams outside the playoffs do we expect to make it this season?

In the east, Penguins are playing well. Rangers might turn it around? Hard to imagine other teams getting there. Maybe Philly

Out west, probably Utah and St Louis have the best chance. Maybe Calgary but i dont think they have the roster to make a run.

Kings during first Cup were out of a playoff spot at Christmas, i believe.
After they fired a coach, then made some trade deadline trades, the miracle happened.
Just saying, anything is possible.

I expect nashville to make a massive comeback

Was watching the Kraken/Canucks game with BIL today. When Canucks went up 4-1 I figured it was over and went for a short run. Half-hour later I get back and see through a window that it’s 4-4 and the game is in OT. About a minute after that I walk in and find that my guy Vince Dunn won it on a breakaway goal. Such an unexpected comeback. Kraken has been on an epic slump lately so they needed it.

Why is the winter classic tonight? I thought it was always new years day

Because 3 of the 4 CFP quarterfinals were scheduled for New Year’s Day.

Why didn’t the CFP games move to say a Friday/Saturday to fit the normal routine? Because … tradition.
