2024-25 NBA Thread: Steph Curry in 4K [3-pointers]

so all of a sudden, after the All Star weekend or should he not have played?

Some years ago the Australian cricket captain got DVT. He was very fit in his early 30s.

No Wemba, no Pop. No bueno in San Antonio.

Andre Iguodala has his number retired by GSW. That’s somewhat surprising to me. He was a solid player and a particularly good defender, but I wouldn’t think deserving of this honor.

He was absolutely integral to their success in the first two championships. Got MVP in the first one.

Dies that mean that Curry, Durant, Thompson and Green will also get their jerseys retired? Am I forgetting anyone?

Great sixth man and a finals MVP. Solid contributor. Seems like a low bar for jersey retirement.

Curry, Thompson, and Green were already there IMO. Maybe Durant with the only factor being time with the team, as he is a HOF’er. No complaints with that decision either way.

Yeah it’s a bit of a stretch. Warriors aren’t exactly a storied franchise with tons of all-time greats so they take what they can get I guess. You’ve got Wilt, Rick Barry, maybe Chris Mullin and that’s about it before the Curry era.

The Golden state run with curry is similar to the Jordan-led Chicago bulls, who rarely (never?) featured in the nba finals before or since.

For those counting: this means between Embiid and Zion Williamson, they played 40 games this season. While neither one would be eligible for any major NBA award, they would both be more than eligible for the Bill Walton “Best NBA Player Playing No More Than Half the Season” Award, which they might both be in contention to win for the rest of their NBA careers.

A lot depends on franchise, for the Celtics or Lakers, no way he gets retired. But the Warriors wandered 40 years in the NBA desert between titles. Iggy was a key part of several of those 4 titles they won and part of the so called “death squad” lineup that finished out games.

There are some things you can’t measure. Andre had capabilities beyond his box scores in GS. He is the definition of a guy that is willing to step back to play a role on a championship team. His +/- stats were excellent, especially considering he was 6th man (am sure others will argue, but he wasn’t on with best lineup as much as some others). I would be willing to bet behind the scenes, he likely kept Green in line enough to not allow behavior to be destructive. He did for GS what Jrue did for my Celts last year, whatever was needed. Glad they retired his jersey. Kerr made it clear why too.

Nikola Jokic records the league’s first-ever 30-20-20 game. Took OT to get there, but 30-20-20 is more than some guys get in 4, 5, 10 games.

Definitely more than Embiid and Williamson will be putting up the rest of the season.

Man I miss that old AO thread on Curry never making it in the NBA.

The first year my buddies and I went to Vegas for March madness was the year Steph was popping off at Davidson. My buddy (huge basketball fan) told me that as good as Steph was in college, he wouldn’t be anything in the NBA.

I saw a pretty funny Dell Curry interview where Steph’s college coaches told him that Steph would be a star some day and Dell thought to himself, maybe in Europe.
