2022 Exam 7 Progress Thread

Anyone know how to integrate x/((exp(X)-1) from 0 to a? (The Kendall Tau of Frank)

Also, best luck with your baby @ALivelySedative !

I’m pretty sure you have to do integration by parts

Well, I am really hoping for no integration questions on the exam… kinda sucks to solve something on excel.

If the paper doesn’t show the integration, are you expected to know it?

Pretty sure those all have logical transforms to make them easily solvable.

How is everyone else’s progress going? Anyone thinking about attempting a PE beginning of March?

Studying is going alright. I won’t be able to do practice exams until April.
Doing my second run of the manual and doing all questions after each chapter.

I am still waiting on my study kit for Brehm. Hoping it gets delivered this week. I am shooting for Practice Exams throughout April. Using March the same as @WhenFCAS .

The thing I really don’t like about Brehm is that it mentioned but never explained a lot of the heavy math stuff. Then I am not sure if I am suppose to memorize the formula or should know how to apply it? Since the text mention it it’s probably fair games for a question to be written about it? Like the exponential moment marginal distribution.

Maybe I haven’t seen enough past exam problems but Goldfarb is not very intimidating.

What do people think about discounted reserves from the Clark paper? ROI of learning this seems low since it seems unlikely to be tested but again… I’ve been wrong before.

I have it in my notes and formula sheet - since it is just two formulas I will probably memorize it just in case.

The discounting of reserve should be straight forward right? it’s essentially a NPV calculation?

This exam is so miserable. If I put in half the energy I spent worrying about results studying I’d get a 10

if it’s any consolation, all exams are equally miserable.

I expect them to grade in 4 weeks this time

Yes they don’t even really test the material anymore. Just random general knowledge on the IQs

Speaking of IQ’s, what is people’s strategies to handle them for this sitting? From what I’ve heard/seen, the IQ’s are insane for this exam.

I wait till the 2nd or 3rd hour

IQ is CAS’s way of teaching candidates shit happens in life and you just gonna take it, and trying to make it work.
