soyleche, for the record, I didn’t accept “vehicle” when the answer was “school bus” and I wouldn’t have accepted “fan” when the answer was “ceiling fan” either.

I was a bit unsure about #3 - I said in the OP that I would use volume for questions like this, and looking at the ceiling fan in the room I’m not entirely sure if it has more volume than a beagle - but answering “No” would certainly have been misleading.
As for #7 - I don’t think there are any in the kitchens I’m most familiar with - there is one over our dining room table, which is immediately adjacent to the kitchen without a wall in between, but still (we never turn it on, and if we did without a serious cleaning there would be dust all over the food…). It seems to me that having one in the kitchen proper would probably be a bad idea.
