I like the messed up idea of not stating how many digits, but how does that work in scoring? I guess you could figure it out if I decided on a 4 digit number, and there was a score 4:1, you’d have to drop the last digit, but hopefully you would have caught on before then. Is there a limit on digits? Between 4 and 6?
Not sure I follow this.
I’m thinking A will be aligned from left to right, whereas B will be reported as is.
So if the number is 1234
and you guess 234, the score would be 0:3.
If the number is 234, and you guess 1234, the score would be 0:3 as well.
Are there any other complications?
I was thinking digits can be anything from 1-5 for a test run.

I mean if my number was 1234 and the guess was 12345, the score would be 4:1 (which is an impossible score for a 5 digit number, but is a possible score for a 4 digit number… oh, NM, I just realized the issue. I should have said 4:0 to start).
Fixing my example:
4:1 is an impossible score for both a 4 digit number (A+B equal at max 4) and a 5 digit number (you can’t have 4 in the correct place and a correct digit in the wrong place), but it is a possible score for a 6 digit number (the 6th number not being guessed in 12345).
